Norman H. Scheele, Sr.

Norman "Timber" Scheele, Sr., 89, of Topeka, passed away Thursday, September 29, 2022.

He was born September 22, 1933, in Greenleaf, Kansas, the son of Henry and Edna (Mueller) Scheele. Timber grew up on a farm in Greenleaf. He attended Greenleaf High School. After high school, he moved to Topeka, Kansas in 1952. He and Beverly Wilson were married November 14, 1953 in Topeka.

Timber was employed by the Don Conroy Construction for 35 years, retiring in 1995. Prior to working for Don Conroy Construction, he worked for Jenkins Music Company.

He was a member of the St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, of Topeka. He became a member in 1952 after moving to Topeka.

Timber enjoyed being outdoors. He also enjoyed working with his hands and had a passion for woodworking. He loved spending time with his family.

Survivors include his children, Norman "Bird" (Lisa) H. Scheele, Jr., Stephen (Misty) D. Scheele and Debra Ann (Ken) Varney; companion, Katherine A. Langel; Nine grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren and sister, Elaine Wohlbrandt. He was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly Lou Scheele; daughter, Linda Hermann; his parents and sister, Eleanor.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at Penwell Gabel Funeral Home from 5:00pm-7:00pm. A graveside service will be at 10:00am on Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at Mount Hope Cemetery, 4700 SW 17th, Topeka. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his honor to the American Diabetes Association PO Box 13067, Alexandria, VA 22312.
