Norman Charles "Bud" Grant, 88, Topeka, passed away Sunday, January 17, 2021.
He was born February 24, 1932, in Salina, Kansas, the son of Norman and Hazel (Frech) Grant. He graduated from Salina High School in 1950 and received a Bachelor's Degree from Kansas Wesleyan College, Salina. Bud was a US Army veteran serving during the Korean War.
He retired from the Kansas Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) in 1999, after serving with the organization since 1970. He served as the Executive Director of the Kansas Retail Council, a division of KCCI, and as KCCI Vice President and General Manager. He was the organization's chief lobbyist for 20 years.
He was a member of the Countryside United Methodist Church, where he also sang in the Sanctuary Choir, Delta Phi Gamma Fraternity, Kansas Society of Association Executives, American Society of Association Executives, Chamber of Commerce of the United States, National Retail Federation, National Association of Chain Drug Stores, and past President of the Western States Retail Conference.
He was appointed to Governor's Blue Ribbon Committee on Education, Attorney General's Consumer Protection Advisory Committee, Administrative Board of Countryside United Methodist Church, and Chairman of the Committee on Social Awareness.
On May 14, 1954, he married Sarah Jean Wyatt in Salina. She preceded him in death on January 31, 2012. He was also preceded in death by his parents and sister, Marjorie Tyree.
Survivors include three children, Kimberly (Ron) Soldani, Shelley (Malcolm) Copeland, and Todd Grant, all of Topeka; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and his beloved cat, Chloe.
A celebration of Bud's life will be held at a later date and interment of cremated remains will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.
