Norman "Curt" Curtis Loupe, 66, of Topeka, passed away Tuesday, July 11, 2023.
He was born June 14, 1957, in Youngstown, Ohio, the son of William and Norma (Klemm) Loupe. He graduated from Manhattan High School. After graduation, he attended Kansas State University and earned his Bachelors Degree in 1979.
Curt was the Director of the Hays Parks as well as the Topeka Parks and Recreation, the St. Charles, MO Parks and Recreation and the Manhattan Parks and Recreation Center. He worked as the Branch Director for the Topeka YMCA. Before retirement he worked for the Lutheran Church Association as the Administration and Promotions Director.
In addition to his work professionally, Curt was a part of the Ward Meade Park Organization and helped with Tulips at Twilight.
He was a faithful member of Faith Lutheran Church of Topeka. He helped with the landscaping and mowing the church lawn, was part of the Communion team and the men's bible study group. Curt and Karen enjoyed going on Mission Trips with the church. Prior to his membership at Faith Lutheran, he attended First Lutheran Church and was active with the youth groups.
Curt will be remembered as a very humble man that would help anyone. He was always so willing to lend a helping hand and had a giving heart. He never met a stranger and lived by the word of Jesus.
In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening and had quite the green thumb. Curt also enjoyed being outdoors, kayaking and was an avid reader. He treasured the time spent visiting his Uncle Bob. Curt enjoyed listening to the Beatles. He was a proud K-State fan.
Curt married Karen Rae Elsen on June 24, 2023 in Topeka, KS at Faith Lutheran Church. They spent over the last 22 years loving each other.
He leaves behind his wife, Karen Elsen; children, Connor (Anna) Loupe and Kylie Loupe; and two sisters, Pam (Perry) Nissler and Lee Ann (Monte) Melanson. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, William "Bill" Loupe.
His family will greet friends and relatives from 3:00pm-5:00pm on Sunday, July 16, 2023 at Penwell Gabel Funeral Home, 1321 SW 10th Ave., Topeka, KS. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am., Monday, July 17, 2023 at the Faith Lutheran Church, 1716 SW Gage Blvd., Topeka. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery & Funeral Chapel, in Topeka.
