Norma Lee (Schneider) Peterson, 84, of Topeka, passed away Friday, June 20, 2014.
She was born July 12, 1929, in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of Walter and Anna Margaret (Pfeiffer) Schneider. Norma was a 1947 graduate of Washburn Rural High School and attended Clark's Business School. She worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone as a records clerk for 21 years, retiring September 1, 1984.
Norma married Harlan Eugene Peterson on July 17, 1949 in Topeka, Kansas. He preceded her in death on September 10, 2005.
Norma was a life-time member of West Side Christian Church in Topeka being active in the Christian Women's Fellowship and hand bell choir, and a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. She very much enjoyed bowling, camping, traveling, crocheting, and playing games with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include a daughter, Dr. Linda Gail (Jack) Wiley; sons, Douglas Kyle Peterson and Bradley Dale (Sharon) Peterson; sister, Margaret JoAn Morris; grandchildren, Michele Leaden, Todd Roberts, Erin Quakenbush, Lucas Peterson, Kathryn Mitchell, and Bethany Wynns; step-grandchild, Ann Harty; and great-grandchildren, Cameron and Tucker Leaden, Kate and Jack Harty.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Eldon E. Schneider.
Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 24, 2014, at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Avenue, Topeka. Burial will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
