Nora E. Maurer, 85, of Topeka, passed away Saturday, August 12, 2006.
She was born in Paullina, Iowa on December 7, 1920, daughter of F.W. Otto and Adeline (Hohnhorst) Herwig. Nora graduated from Columbus High School where she was a member of the National Honor Society. She attended 2 years of business school.
Nora was united in marriage to Reverend Wilson R. Maurer on June 7, 1942. He preceded her in death on March 7, 1999.
She retired from Community Memorial Hospital in Marysville, KS as the business office manager after 27 years of service.
Nora served faithfully in various offices in church organizations especially the Lutheran Women's Missionary League. She was also involved in Just-A-Mere Study Club; a business organization.
Survivors include one daughter, Cheri Luster and her husband Ray of Pleasant Hill, MO, three sons and daughters-in-law, Warren and Nina of Overland Park, KS, S. James and Sally of Colorado Springs, CO, and Tom and Marcia of Topeka, KS, 5 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, 2 step great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Arleen Oehlrich and Mildred Peitsch and her husband, Chet, all of Columbus, NE.
Mrs. Maurer will lie in state after 12 noon on Tuesday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel, Topeka, KS, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. that evening. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 16th at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Columbus, NE with burial to follow at Roselawn Cemetery in Columbus, NE.
