Nina Lucille Horton Robinson, 80, of Topeka, passed away on Sunday, September 28, 2008 at a Topeka retirement community. She was born on November 2, 1927 in Madison, KS, the daughter of Ruth Lucille Parry Horton and Oscar Ray Horton. She graduated from Emporia High School and attended two years at Emporia State Teachers College. Nina had resided in Topeka since 1947. She was employed for 25 years as a legal secretary for the State of Kansas at the District Attorney's Office and the 6th District Court. She was a member of Highland Park United Methodist Church where she was active in the Women's Unit of the church and a member of numerous administrative committees of the church. She was active in the Kansas Legal Secretaries Association, holding several offices. She was also active in Scouts, where she served as a Cub Scout Den Mother and was also a member of Troop 40 Boy Scouts Mother's Club. She was also active in 4H. She enjoyed reading, sewing, quilting, camping, fishing and family time. Nina married Dwight E. Robinson on September 4, 1949. He preceded her in death on September 3, 1989. She was also preceded in death by one sister, Mary Frances Jirasek on May 3, 2000. Survivors include three sons, Steven D. (Marsha) Robinson of Overland Park, Barry E. (Marcia) Robinson of London, UK, Todd Alan (Diana Tweedy) Robinson of Wichita, five grandchildren, Bryan James Robinson, Amanda Kay Robinson, Casandra J. Robinson, Nicholas Owen Robinson, Tyson Edward Robinson and one brother, Ray Kenneth (Marjorie) Horton of Admire. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Highland Park United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Topeka Cemetery. Nina will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel where the family will receive friends from 5:30-7:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be given to Highland Park United Methodist Church Library Fund, 2914 S.E.
