Newell Mcbratney

Newell J. McBratney, 92, of Pomona, KS passed away August 24, 2008 at home. Newell was born March 15, 1916 at Parker, KS the son of Morrill Edgar and Georgia Marie (Redding) McBratney. At 3 years of age, he moved to Centerville, where he attended grade school. He graduated from Parker High School in 1934. On March 21, 1958, Newell was united in marriage with Marjorie Siron inWichita, KS. Newell attended the Pomona Assembly Of God Church.

He worked for Amoco all his life and retired after 41 years in January 1978. He moved to Pomona in 1973 where he made his home until his death. He served in the United States Navy from 1941–1946. He was a Chief Motor Machinist Mate. He served in Brazil, Hawaii, China and Boreno.

He is survived by one daughter, Lea S. Miller of Paola and husband John – two step-sons Dennis and wife Kim of Broomfield, CO. David and wife Pattie of Denver, CO. Ten grandchildren; one great-granddaughter and one great-grandson.

A Memorial Service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Sun., Aug. 31, at Pomona Assembly of God Church, 430 East "A" Street, Pomona, KS.
