Neva E. Simon, 87, of Topeka, passed away on Sunday, May 25, 2008 at Brewster Place Retirement Community in Topeka. She was born on February 16, 1921 in Morland, KS, the daughter of Albert J. and Dulcie Bell Clark. She graduated from Morland High School, and attended Fort Hays State Teachers College. Neva taught school in a one room school house in western Kansas, resided in Russell, KS for 3 years and has lived in Topeka since 1952. She was a teacher aide for 8 years, teaching at Parkdale, Sheldon and Rice Elementary Schools before retiring in 1971. She was a member of Topeka Bible Church and was active with the Christian Women's Club. Neva married Vergil L. Simon on May 29, 1949 in Morland, KS. He preceded her in death on February 7, 2002. Survivors include one daughter, Debbie Spees of Topeka, three sons, Bernard L. Simon of Grandview, MO, Keith W. Simon of Steamboat Springs, CO, Greg L. Simon of Midland, TX, ten grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Services will be held at 9:00 a.m. Wednesday at Topeka Bible Church. Graveside committal services will follow at 5:00 p.m. Wednesday at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Sheridan Co, KS. Neva will lie in state after 3:00 p.m. today at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel where the family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be given to Topeka Bible Church, 1035 S.W.
