Nelma Groves

Nelma Mary Groves, 85, of Topeka, passed away, Sunday, Aug. 14, 2005 at her home. She was born Feb. 21, 1920 in Madrid, Nebraska, the daughter of Phil and Mae Bickford Chelf.

Nelma moved to Kansas in 1927 and attended Harveyville schools, graduating in 1938. She was a certified cosmetologist.

She was a member of the Quivira Heights Church of Christ.

Nelma married Dr. Quentin D. Groves, January 24, 1940 in Lyndon, Kansas. He died March 19, 1995.

Nelma is survived by a son, Larry D. Groves, Topeka; a daughter, Linda M. Groves, Hutchinson, eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, a brother, Kenneth Chelf, Omaha, NE, and a sister, Lelia Johnson, Osage City. A daughter, Lorma Fritz died in 1991 and a brother, Roy Chelf died in January, 2005.

Graveside services and interment will be at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 18, 2005 at Mount Hope Cemetery.
