Nelda (Stohs) Flickinger, 88, of Marysville and formerly of Topeka, died on Saturday, November 15, 2014 at her home in Marysville.
Nelda was born at Bremen, KS, September 12, 1926, the daughter of Ferdinand and Katharine (Leseberg) Stohs. Nelda was baptized on October 3, 1926 at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hermansberg, KS and was confirmed on October 23, 1940.
She attended public school near Marysville and parochial school near Bremen. She graduated from Marysville High School in 1944 and moved to Topeka.
Nelda was married to Edwin J. Flickinger on April 7, 1962 in Topeka; he preceded her in death in 2010.
Nelda was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Topeka since 1944, where she did volunteer work on Sight Saving Material at St. John's.
She was preceded in death by her parents, by five brothers, Arthur, Norman, Leonhard Sr, Reuben, and Herbert Sr. Stohs and one sister, Ellen Jackson.
Survivors include her sister, Florine (Bill) Bailey of Topeka, niece, Pam (Leonhard Jr.) Stohs of Marysville as well as numerous other nieces and nephews.
Nelda will lie in state from 2:00-7:00p.m. on Wednesday, November 19 at the Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Ave., Topeka. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, November 20 at St. John's Lutheran Church, 901 SW Fillmore, Topeka. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery in Topeka.
