Neal A. "Mike" Carl, III, age 66, passed away Saturday, November 21, 2009 at home surrounded by his family. He had lost his battle with pancreatic cancer. The man who could light up a room upon entering will now light the way for those of us left behind. He was born February 2, 1943, the first born son of Neal A. Carl, Jr. and Dorothy Louise (Johnson) Carl. He married Debra Mason on May 12, 1984. She survives, along with the four children shared together, Neal A. Carl IV (Maria), Olympia, WA; Tamara Simpson (Richard); Kenneth Mason (Annette); Wendy Richard (Michael), all of the Topeka, KS area. He was preceded in death by his parents, Neal and Dorothy Carl and sister Linda Kirshbaum. He is also survived by two brothers, David Carl (Patti), Divide, CO; Paul Carl (Annette), Woodland Hills, CA; and sister Sharon Breniman (Paul), Raleigh, NC; as well as eight grandchildren, Seth Jacob Carl, Chad Andrew and Brandon Scott Simpson, Lance Corporal Cody James, Emily Rose and Gage Alexander Mason, Austin Riley and James Parker Richard; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 4, 2009 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Ave, Topeka, KS 66604. A family burial will take place in the Garden of Peace at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery at a later date.
