Naomi L. Walker died peacefully on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at 99. Naomi was born on April 5, 1925, to Albin and Julia Smith in Burdick, Kansas. She had eleven other brothers and sisters and was the last remaining of this family. She married James H. Walker on August 7, 1943, while James was in the military. The two moved to Topeka in 1950, where they raised two sons. Naomi spent her early years in Topeka as a housewife and homemaker. Once the boys were older, she started working at Capitol Federal Savings as a savings representative. She and James were also very involved with Trinity Lutheran Church in Topeka and served as the treasurers for more than 20 years. Survivors include two sons, John W. Walker and his wife, Laurie, Topeka, and Doug Walker and his wife, Diane Kamola, Lawrence; and four grandchildren, Charlie Walker, Katie Walker, Jennifer Walker, and Noelle Walker.
A funeral service in Naomi’s honor will be held at 11:30am on Friday, July 5, 2024 at Mount Hope Funeral Chapel, 4700 SW 17th Street, Topeka, Ks 66604.
