Nancy Olson

Nancy Louise Norling Olson, 69, of Topeka,passed away Thursday, February 3 at Stormont-Vail Hospital.

She was born October 24, 1935 in Cadillac, Michigan, the daughter of the Reverend Everett W. and Helen S. Norling. Reverend Norling was pastor at Augustana Lutheran churches in Tustin and Irma.

Reverend Norling served several congregations in Kearney and Omaha NE. before moving to Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Wichita. Nancy graduated from North High School in Wichita. She finished a baccalaureate degree at Kansas State and later completed graduate courses and teaching certification at the University of Nebraska.

She married Richard E. Olson on April 5, 1958. He survives of the home. He is a retired professor and academic administrator from the faculties of Wichita State University, the University of Alabama and Washburn University. The family moved to Topeka in 1980.

Other survivors include a son Robert, his wife Sheryl and grandsons Matthew and Michael of Bernardsville, NJ; a daughter Julia and her husband Philip Dascombe and grandsons Peter and Alex of N. Falmouth, MA; a son David of Raleigh, NC.

Mrs. Olson will lie in state after 1:00 pm Sunday, February 6 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Monday, February 7, 2005 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church with burial to follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Axtell, NE at a later date.
