Nancy Kaul Bogina passed away June 21, 2017.
She was born to Earl (Whistle) and Dorothy Pock in Emporia, Kansas on September 10, 1939. She was a graduate of Topeka High School and attended the University of Kansas.
Nancy worked for the U.S. Government early in her career and was proud she had the opportunity to work in the Kansas Capitol Building for 20 years. While there, she worked as an Executive Assistant to several Democratic Senate leaders and for the Kansas Department of Transportation as Special Assistant to the Secretary/Director of Division of Public Affairs under Governors Joan Finney, Bill Graves, and Kathleen Sebelius.
Nancy married Bob Kaul in 1958. They were divorced in 1987. She married Senator August "Gus" Bogina in December 1988.
Survivors include her children: Kathy (Brian) Hausthor and Korey (Lisa) Kaul; step-children: Augie (Terri) Bogina, Kathy Bogina, and Mark Bogina; grandchildren Evan Hausthor, Tyler Hausthor, Zoë Kaul, and Eli Kaul; and step-grandchildren: Michael Bogina, Ashleigh Bogina, Caroline (Young) Hou, and Elizabeth Bogina.
She was preceded in death by a daughter Kristy Kaul, step-son Mike Bogina, and grandson Tanner Hausthor.
Nancy loved her husband, family and friends, often having lunch with relatives and friends. She enjoyed crocheting, the outdoors, technology, and was always learning something new.
Nancy felt she was very blessed by her family, friends and, most of all, the life God allowed her to live.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 26, 2017 at Christ the King Catholic Church, 5973 SW 25th St., Topeka. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery. A rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m. Sunday followed by visitation until 8:00 p.m. at the Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th St., Topeka.
