Myrtle Jane Kyle, 86, Topeka, died Thursday, June 26, 2008 at Midland Hospice House.
She was born Jan. 8, 1922 in Willis, KS, the daughter of Frank and Emma Burgess Thomas, and had lived in Topeka since April, 1946. She worked at the Palace Clothing Store during the 1950's.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church and was a founding member of the YOMAC Sunday School class at the church, the Women of the Moose, and was a past president of Capitol Post #1 American Legion Auxiliary.
Myrtle married James C. Kyle on July 11, 1942 in Hiawatha. He died Oct. 20, 2006. She was also preceded in death by eleven brothers and sisters.
Survivors include a daughter, Jane Kelly and husband, Bill of Topeka; a brother, James E. Thomas of Barstow, CA; and two grandchildren, Kyle and Jordan Kelly.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Interment will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
Mrs. Kyle will lie in state after noon on Sunday at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 6:30-8:00 p.m.
