Myrna Barringer

Myrna R. Barringer, 67, of Topeka, passed away Saturday, August 13 at Midland Hospice House.

She was born July 7, 1938 in Topeka, the daughter of Roy and Marjorie E. Howey McClain.

She attended Topeka public schools. She was employed as a pet groomer for many years and was involved in showing dogs. She was also a homemaker and mother. She had a deep love for animals and was an avid doll collector. She had a garden that she took much pride in.

She married Dwayne Barringer in Topeka in 1954. They later divorced. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Gary McClain.

Survivors include a daughter, Phyllis Jones and her husband Hal of Chesapeake, VA; a son, Phillip Barringer of Topeka; a brother, Roy McClain and his wife Talisa; a sister, Geraldine McClain; sister in law, Rhonda McClain; longtime companion, Bill Overbey, all of Topeka; several grandchildren, and beloved pet cat, Gizmo.

Cremation is planned. A memorial visitation for family and friends will be held Tuesday, August 16 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel.
