Minnie C. Kuker, 90, Topeka, passed away Wednesday, October 29, 2003, at a local hospital.
She was born October 14, 1913, near Dawson, Nebraska, the daughter of Wess and Mary Edna (Arington) Curfman.
She was a homemaker and also made and sold pies to regular customers and restaurants in Falls City, Nebraska. In 1955 she and Carl moved to Topeka and opened a restaurant called Kuker's Chat and Nibble at 931 Kansas Avenue. They later sold the restaurant and she opened a Day Care Center in her home which she operated until she retired in 1975. She sang and danced with the Sweet Adelines for many years during her retirement having performed at many care facilities. Minnie was well known for wearing pretty dresses and high heel shoes everyday of her life.
She married Carl Thomas Kuker May 15, 1933. He passed away October 19, 2003. They were married for 70 years.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Richard Thomas Kuker and Roger Kent Kuker.
Survivors include three grandsons, Steve Kuker, Olathe, and Scott Kuker and Todd Kuker, both of Osage City; a daughter-in-law, Maxine Kuker, Osage City; and seven great-grandchildren, one sister Arlene Rogers of Falls City, Nebraska.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Mrs. Kuker will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m.
