Mildred I. Wise, 82, of Topeka, died Wednesday, February 9, 2005. She was born on June 12, 1922 in Whiting, Ks., the daughter of Henry and Clara Hollis. Mildred married Robert Wise on December 24, 1941. He preceded her in death on in 1996. They were happily married for 55 years. They lived in Lebo and Manhattan before moving to Topeka in 1966. Mildred retired from Falleys Bakery as a cake decorator. After retiring, she continued with her craft for special occasions, pleasing many people in Kansas and Nebraska with her creativity and delightful cakes. She also painted with oils and was generous with the many beautifiul items she knitted. Mildred was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Women of the Moose Auxiliary and American Legion Post No. 400 auxiliary. Survivors include her son, Brian Wise and wife Tami, grandchildren, Evan and wife, Amy and Nick Wise all of Topeka. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Graveside committal service will be held at 3:15 .m. Saturday in Lincoln Cemetery, Lebo, Ks. Mrs. Wise will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. Friday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Memorial contributions may be given to the organization of the donor's choice.
