Mildred Maxine Kimble, 88, Joplin, MO, formerly of Topeka, passed away on Friday, May 6, 2011.
Mildred was born August 15, 1922 in Hiawatha, KS, the daughter of Bert E. and Grace A. (Lupold) Lowe.
She worked in the Lens Surfacing and Finishing Department at Duffen's Optical for 35 years, retiring in 1986.
She was a member of Kansas Federation Business and Professional Women's Clubs Inc, the 10-20 Club, Trinity Baptist Church in Topeka and Fellowship Baptist Church in Joplin.
She was an avid bowler and a member of numerous bowling leagues in Topeka, and pitched horseshoes at Topeka Horseshoe Club. She volunteered at St. Francis Hospital.
Mildred married Hal "Pete" Benedict on February 18, 1940. They later divorced. Mildred married Loyd V. Kimble, Sr. on December 11, 1954 in Topeka. He died February 2, 2006. Survivors include daughter, Betty M. (Olen) Robbins, Joplin, MO; stepson, Loyd V. (Irma) Kimble, Jr, Topeka; stepdaughters, Karolyn (George) Stigler, Waterloo, IA, Kay Kimble, Coralville, IA; half –sister, Lou Anna Lowe, Topeka, KS; half-brother, James Lowe, Topeka, KS; daughter-in-law, Maria Herrick, Springfield, MO; 3 grandchildren; 16 step grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 12 step great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by son, Bill Benedict; stepsons, Bill Kimble, Mike Kimble; and grandson, Mike Fox.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Burial will follow at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Mildred will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. Tuesday and visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
