Mildred L. Morris, 93, of Topeka passed away peacefully April 28, 2014.
Mildred, a loving wife, mother and grandmother, was born August 9, 1920, in rural Geary County to Joseph and Mary Roeser and attended Junction City High School before graduating from Topeka High School in 1939.
Mildred married Joseph H. Cochran Jr. in 1940. The couple had two children, Joseph H. Cochran III (deceased) and Sue Ann (Cochran) Edmonds of Goddard, Kansas. Mildred's husband, Joe passed away in 1971 after 29 years of marriage and she married Jack V. Morris in 1973. Jack passed away in 1994. Mildred is survived by her daughter, Sue Ann Edmonds (Charles), Goddard, Kansas; four grandchildren, James Calvert, Topeka; Beth Ann Vincent, Topeka; Roger Edmonds (Crystal), Topeka; and Diana Stewart (Wade), Firestone, Colorado; and five great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by 1 brother and 2 sisters.
Mildred is best remembered as a loving mother and devoted wife who loved cooking, crafts and family travel. Mildred was a retired medical assistant who remained active in her church and with the Arab Shrine Nobels.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, May 10, 2014, at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel. Private family inurnment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
