Mildred L. Gustin, 86, of Topeka, passed away on Friday, January 25, 2013 at a Topeka hospital. She was born February 2, 1926 in Selden, KS, the daughter of Albert and Amy Kearns Hase.
Mildred graduated from Selden High School. Mildred resided in Topeka since 1966. She was employed by Robbie's Restaurant for several years while attending school for her job with the state. She was employed by the State of Kansas until her retirement in 1989. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the quilting group and the Church Circle.
Mildred married John L. Gustin on December 24, 1945 in Topeka. He preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by three sons, Alan Lee, John Leslie and David Scott. Survivors include four children, Marsha Conchola of Topeka, Sherrie M. Rogers of McCook, NE, Anita (Alan) Haimowitz of Topeka and Darris (Dee Dee) Gustin of Kansas City, MO, nine grandchildren, Amy, Travis, Lacey, Levi, Brian, Lee, Andy, Mindy, and David, twenty-three great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 9:00 a.m. Tuesday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Graveside committal services will follow at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday in Rexford Cemetery, Rexford, KS. Mildred will lie in state from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the American Diabetes Association, 837 S. Hillside, Wichita, KS 67211.
