Mildred O. Ives died Sunday, Dec. 29, 2002 at the United Methodist Home at 1135 College in Topeka.
She had been in poor health for a number of years due to gradual degeneration of her Cerebellum.
She was born Mildred Olive Tilley in Mobridge, South Dakota October 29, 1909. She was the daughter of Nannie B. Spray Tilley and Ernest A. Tilley. She grew up in Des Moines, Iowa and was a graduate of Drake University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree.
She was married to Olin R. Ives on March 26, 1941 in Richmond, Missouri. Her step son, Howard E. Ives, died in 1984. She had lived in Topeka since 1944, having moved here from Kansas City with her husband Olin R. Ives. She had been a widow since he died January 18, 1987.
She was a member of Central Congregational Church and P.E.O.
She had worked for Skelly Oil Company in Des Moines, Iowa and Kansas City, Missouri as a stenographer, and Ray Anderson Company in Topeka as Office Manager for many years and was retired at the time of her death.
She is survived by her former daughter in-law Jo Ann Centlivre, two step grandsons, James F. (Jay) Ives and Edward A. (Ned) Ives, one granddaughter in-law, Joanne Ives and one step great granddaughter, Chelsea M. Ives, all of Topeka.
Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Topeka. Penwell Gable Funeral Home is in
charge of arrangements. She will lie in state after 2:OOpm Tuesday at the funeral home. Graveside services only will take place 11:OOam Thursday, January, 2. 2003 at Memorial Park Cemetery.
