Mildred "Millie" Marie (George) Fischer, 76, Topeka, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at Midland Hospice House.
Millie was born August 2, 1935, near Dover, to Milo B. and Anna E. (Holmes) George. She graduated from Dover High School in 1953 and attended Miltonvale College.
She was a member of First Assembly of God Church, and volunteered at St. Francis Hospital.
She worked for Southwestern Bell in the 60's before she and her husband, Jim, became owners of Kansas Electronics. She retired in 2000.
Millie married James Fischer on November 19, 1960 in Topeka. He survives. Other survivors include their children, Mary (Todd) Krass, Overland Park, Kevin (Leslie) Fischer, Michelle (Shane) Ditttman, all of Topeka; grandchildren, Tiffany, Ashley, Robert and Tyler Krass, Andrew, Abigail and Kevin Fischer, Jacob and Alex Dittman. She was preceded in death by her parents, 4 sisters and 2 brothers.
She was a wonderful wife, caring mother and beloved grandmother. She always tried to have a positive attitude and enjoyed her family and church family.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 21, 2011 at First Assembly of God Church. Burial will follow at the Dover Cemetery. Millie will lie in state at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel after 2:00 p.m. on Sunday and visitation will be from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m.
