Mildred E. Shelinbarger, 86, Bradenton, Florida, and formerly of Asheville, North Carolina, and Topeka, Kansas, was called home by the Lord on November 6, 2011. She was a nurse at the Veteran's Administration hospitals in Topeka and Asheville until she retired. She was born in Alma, Kansas, to Edward and Lenna (Teneyck) Theel. She graduated as an RN from Jane C. Stormont hospital, Topeka, Kansas, in 1946. She was married to Albert Shelinbarger in 1946.
She is survived by two daughters, Alberta Ellett, Watkinsville, Georgia, and Karen Petrin, Bradenton, Florida; three grandchildren, Geoff Ellett, Maurice, Louisiana, Aaron Ellett, Spartanburg, South Carolina, and Robert Petrin, Bradenton, Florida; and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert, in 1995, and her son, Marvin Shelinbarger, in 1974.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 12, at Mount Hope Cemetery, Mausoleum Chapel, 4700 SW 17th Street, Topeka, Kansas. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 2200 26th Street, W., Bradenton, Florida 34205.
