Mike Woodbury, 51, Topeka, passed away Monday, December 19, 2016.
He was born in Columbus, Georgia on July 2, 1965. He was the son of Ron and Vickie Woodbury, Silver Lake and Martha and Steve Crandall, deceased. Mary Beth Stauth was the love of his life, and together they made a family with son, Lucas, daughter, Mackenzi and God.
In 1983, he graduated from Royal Valley High School and received a bachelor's degree from Kansas University in 1993.
Mike served honorably in the U.S. Army and the Kansas National Guard, taught students at Emporia High School and worked various jobs with Target Distribution.
He loved helping others and shared his time with youth whenever he could. Mike enjoyed nature, literature, watching movies, the KU Jayhawks, Royals Baseball, Chiefs Football and what technology could do for people.
He was an active member of First Christian Church, as a Sunday School Teacher and Youth Group Sponsor. He was a past member of First Christian Church in Emporia, where he was active with the Youth Group.
On April 28, 1990, he married Mary Beth Stauth in Dodge City, KS. She survives. Other survivors include their children: Lucas Timothy Woodbury and Mackenzi Isabelle Woodbury, both of Topeka; his father and step-mother, Ron and Vickie Woodbury of Silver Lake; sister, Terri Woodbury, niece, Rachel Woodbury, both of Auburn; mother-in-law, Ruth Stauth of Dodge City; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother and step-father, Martha and Stephen Crandall, maternal grandparents, Harry and Isa Faust, paternal grandparents, Johnnie and Clara Woodbury and father-in-law, Dale Stauth.
Funeral services with military honors will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 22 at First Christian Church, 1880 SW Gage Blvd, Topeka. Interment will follow at Lynn Creek Cemetery, Berryton. Michael will lie in state on Wednesday at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel until 2 p.m. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the church.
