Michael Schultes

December 29, 1949 — December 12, 2023

Dr. Michael L Schultes, 73, of Topeka, passed away on December 12, 2023 at Stormont Vail Hospital.

He was born on December 29, 1949 to Milo and Lois (Gooden) Schultes in Topeka, Kansas.

Michael was a proud graduate of Silver Lake High School in 1968. It was there that he met the love of his life, Regina (Stremming). They were married on November 11, 1972. Michael graduated from Washburn University and then UMKC School of Dentistry. He started his own dental practice in Onaga and then moved it to Silver Lake in 1977. As a dentist, Michael made his patients feel comfortable. Michael and Regina resided in Topeka and had two children, Patrick and Adriene.

Michael was so proud to be from Silver Lake. He was an avid supporter of the school and community and served on the football chain gang for over 40 years. He coached teams in soccer, baseball and softball, and he served as a board member on the Silver Lake Alumni Scholarship Fund. He attended Grace Point Wesleyan Church and served on the security team.

Michael was proud of his kids. He never missed a sporting or school event even into their adulthood. Many Saturdays you could find him at a wrestling meet, playing golf, or pickle ball. Michael was also blessed with two grandkids that had him wrapped around their fingers. Whether he was watching them play volleyball, do Taekwondo, or just playing around with them, Michael absolutely loved being a papa.

Michael was a part of a few small groups with his church. He grew in his faith and relationship with Christ. His relationship with Jesus was evident in his willingness to serve. He was generous with his time. He was always willing to help anyone with anything. He was sincere. He listened to others but never shied away from sharing his thought or opinions. He loved being outside on his property. It was his way to recharge his battery, and he took so much pride in taking care of the land. He was a craftsman and created many pieces of beautiful furniture.

He was preceded in death by his father; Milo Schultes and mother; Lois Schultes.

Michael is survived by his loving wife; Regina, son, Patrick (Maria) Schultes, daughter, Adriene (Donald) Matthews, grandchildren; Rodrigo and Grace, and many cousins who were more like siblings.
