Michael D. Kohn, Colonel, USAF Retired, 67, of Baldwin City, passed away Sunday, November 28, 2021.

He was born August 18, 1954, in Topeka, Kansas. The son of Gaylen Duane Kohn and Vera Evelyn (Patterson) Kohn. He received a Bachelor's Degree in History from Washburn University and a Master's Degree in International Relations and Affairs from the University of Oklahoma.

Michael served 30 years in the United States Air Force retiring as a Colonel (0-6). Michael served as a Special Agent with the Air Force Office of Special Investigations. During his career, he solved the 1st serial killer case in Alaskan and Air Force history, he guarded Vice President Quayle and Secretary of State Schultz. Michael retired as the IMA to the Vice Commander of AFOSI and served 2003-2006 as the Director of Project Task Force regarding all joint counterintelligence operations in Iraq.

Michael was a member of the Echo Cliff Gang, the Air Force Office of Special Investigations Association, and the American Legion.

Michael married Karen (Franzen) Kohn on April 27, 1974 in Topeka, KS. Survivors include his Wife, Karen (Franzen) Kohn, Son, Gabriel Kohn (Amanda), Daughter, Amara Packard (Nolan), Son, Joshua Kohn (Kayla), Son, Michael Kohn, Son, William Kohn (Katie), Granddaughter, Emily Kohn, Grandson, Gabriel Kohn, Jr., Granddaughter, Elizabeth Kohn, Grandson, Tyler Davis, Granddaughter, Haley Davis, Granddaughter, Ella Davis, Grandson, Austin Packard, Granddaughter, Audrey Kohn, Granddaughter, Charlotte Kohn, Granddaughter, Amelia Kohn. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Karen Arlene (Kohn) Guilbault.

Michael enjoyed history, genealogy, recording family get togethers, and spending time with his family.

Visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday, December 2, 2021 at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, 1321 S.W. 10th Avenue, Topeka. A Funeral Ceremony will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 3, 2021 at the Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home.
