Michael Jones

Michael Miles Jones, 50, of Topeka, passed away at his residence, on Monday, August 10, 2009. He was born September 14, 1958 in Topeka, KS, son of Robert Dale Jones I, and Barbara G. (Jones) Cusic.

In Mike's teen years he enjoyed racing go-carts near Warsaw, IN and leading Registered Holstein's at the Indiana State Fair and other state fairs. He graduated from Warsaw High School and later from Lincoln Tech in Indianapolis, IN. He had his own delivery trucks and worked for Quick Delivery out of Kansas City for many years. Mike loved racing and attended Thunder Hill, Heartland Park, and other race tracks every weekend with his daughter and friends. He also enjoyed playing softball and umpiring.

Survivors include: mother and step-father, C. Larry and Barbara G. Cusic; daughter, Brooklynn Michelle Jones; and brother, Robert Dale Jones II.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Kay (Berg) Jones.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, August 14, 2009, at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, with cremation to follow. Mike will lie in state after 3 p.m. on Thursday, August 13, 2009, with the family receiving friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made at Silver Lake Bank, 201 NW Highway 24, in Mike's name.
