Micah Seth Rolfs

Micah Seth Rolfs, 29, of Topeka, transitioned from this life to begin a new journey on January 23, 2010. Micah was born in Topeka on May 29, 1980, to LaVetta Westphal Rolfs and Leland E. Rolfs.
Micah graduated from Topeka Collegiate in 1995, Topeka High School in 1999 and Prescott College in 2005 where he majored in Sustainable Community Development. Upon graduation, he founded Greenlight Construction and then expanded in 2009 to form a partnership with Verne Brien. Micah also worked as a professional photographer.
Micah was an active member of the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship where he co-developed the young adults group and served on the green building committee. Micah was also active with the Kansas Area Watershed Council, the Learning for Life Center, Council Grove Conference, Chords & Oil artists and musicians, Gizmo Productions, 785 Magazine, Rethink Topeka, and Critical Mass Bicycle group.
Micah is survived by his mother, LaVetta Westphal Rolfs; father, Leland E. Rolfs; step mother, Denise Rolfs; sister, Rachel Rolfs Rogers and her husband Flint; step sister Jennifer Waters and her sons Taylor and Matthew; step brother Michael Waters and his wife Drew, and their daughters Katelynn, Carlee and Mikaela, all of Topeka; grandmother, Iona Westphal , Hays; step grandmother, Barbara Coder of Topeka; as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins and a whole community of friends and mentors.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 29, 2010 at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery.
A service in celebration of our time with Micah will be held on Friday, January 29, 2010, beginning at 4:00 p.m. in the Washburn Ballroom, Memorial Student Union, Washburn University, 1700 SW College in Topeka.
