7. Background: Dr. Morris was raised in Potwin, and graduated from Topeka High School in 1939. He
graduated from KU and from the University of Kansas School of Medicine in 1945. He served his residency at St.
Joseph Hospital in Kansas City, MO before returning to Topeka in 1951. He was a physician of obstetrics and
gynocology in private practice in Topeka until retiring in 1985. He was a Captain in the US Army and was
stationed in Japan following WW2. He was a member of the Topeka, Shawnee, and American Medical Societies;
Topeka Country Club; Downtown Lions Club; KU Alumni Association.

8. Relatives: Married to: Barbara Duff. She preceded him in death. He married Jeanne A. Carpenter
Simmons in 1963. She survives.

Methodist Church.

11. Visitation times, place: Dr. Morris will lie in state at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel from 9 am-9 pm
Monday where the family will receive friends from 6-8 pm.
