Melva "Jean" Peters, 85, Topeka, passed away Sunday, June 29, 2014.
Jean was born December 14, 1928 in Topeka, the daughter of William T. and Louise W. (Reiber) Robinson. She graduated from Topeka High School and attended Washburn University.
She was employed as a Paraprofessional with USD-501, retiring in 1995.
She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
Jean married Keith N. Peters on May 6, 1950. He died March 16, 1996. Survivors include son, Jim Peters, Topeka; daughter, Linda Smith; and grandson, Keith N. Smith, both of Garnett. She was also preceded in death by a brother, William L. Robinson.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel. Burial will follow at Westlawn Memorial Gardens. Jean will lie in state after 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
