Maxine Vogel, 92, of Topeka, passed away Wednesday, January 20, 2016, surrounded by her family.
She was born August 2, 1923, in Ellis, Kansas, the daughter of John and Minnie (Dietrich) Fries. She was a 1941 graduate of Meriden High School.
Maxine was an office manager for a Tupperware distributor in Topeka, retiring after 37 years of service. She was a member of Countryside United Methodist Church, Ladies Shriner's and Carousel Dance Club. Maxine was a strong supporter of fast-pitch softball. She also enjoyed dancing and could always be found supporting her family's many activities.
Maxine married Bernard E. "Bernie" Vogel on October 18, 1942, in Little Rock, Arkansas. He preceded her in death on April 29, 2010. Survivors include two daughters, Debbie (Jack) Crowell of Topeka and Denise (Doug) Ryan of Marysville; son, Dennis (Maggie) Vogel of Overland Park; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two brothers, John (Joan) Fries and Eugene (Jo) Fries, both of Topeka; and a sister, Irene West of Meriden.
She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Amber Vogel; three brothers, Harold Fries, Jim Fries and Bob Fries; and four sisters, Esther Weider, Theresa Boydston, Garna Cook and Charlene Sells.
Visitation will be from 1:00-3:00 p.m. Sunday at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Avenue, Topeka, Kansas 66604. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 25, 2016, at Countryside United Methodist Church, 3221 SW Burlingame Road, Topeka, Kansas 66611. Interment will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery.
