Maxine Marie Wolner Tiehen, 79, Topeka, died Thursday, December 4, 2008 at her home after an extended illness.
She was born December 26, 1928 in Frankfort, SD, to Edwin Fremont and Clara Marie Anna (Schone) Wolner.
She graduated from Frankfort High School in 1946 and attended Chillicothe Business College, Chillicothe, MO, and worked several years for Santa Fe Railway.
She belonged to First United Methodist Church and the Sunny Elevation Extension Homemakers Unit.
She married John William "Jack" Tiehen on August 15, 1947 at Chillicothe, MO. He survives. Other survivors include their son, John Edwin Tiehen and wife, Caralyn, along with two grandsons, John Richard Tiehen and Daniel Lee Tiehen, all of Cypress, CA; and her niece and special soul mate, Pamela Jeane Wallace, of Clovis, NM. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Jeane Elsie Wolner Gamble and a brother, Edwin F. Wolner.
Cremation is planned. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Private family inurnment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening.
