Maxine Rose Balusek, 88, Topeka, passed away on Thursday, June 14, 2012 at Midland Hospice House surrounded by her family.
Maxine was born May 4, 1924 in Denver, CO, the daughter of Francis M. and Sadie M. (Coffey) Mix. She graduated from Topeka High School in 1942.
She worked for Jostens Yearbook for 30 years, retiring in 1987.
She was a member of the Wanamaker Seventh Day Adventist Church, where she taught Sabbath School and was a greeter; and a member of the Topeka Genealogy Society.
Maxine married William Joseph Balusek on December 24, 1946 in Topeka. He died June 4, 2006. Survivors include son, William J. Balusek, Jr. and wife, Donita; daughters, Marion M. Kieffer and husband, Gale, Anne Dinger and husband, Chuck, all of Topeka, Rose Puff and husband, Jon, Springfield, MO, Judy Coffey and husband, Scott, Little Elm, TX; 10 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mildred Hutton, Falling Waters, WV. She was also preceded in death by 3 brothers; 1 grandson; 1 great-grandson; and 1 great-granddaughter.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at the Wanamaker Seventh Day Adventist Church. Burial will follow at Topeka Cemetery. Maxine will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. on Monday at the Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel and visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
