Max Maurice Polk, 75, Topeka, died Tuesday, July 26, 2005 at Westwood Manor Nursing Home in Topeka.
He was born June 15, 1930 in Sedan, KS, the youngest son of Raymond William and Ruby Marilla McClelland Polk. He graduated from Sedan High School, received a BS degree from Kansas State University in 1952, and a Masters' Degree from the University of Southern California in 1972. He had lived in Topeka for over 30 years.
Mr. Polk retired in 1983 from the Fedral Home Loan Bank as an examiner after 28 years of employment. He was a member of the Kansas State Alumni Association, the Kansas State University Foundation, and the Mike Ahearn Scholarship Fund. He was a US Army veteran.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Polk, and three brothers, Dr. Bill Polk, Jack Polk, and Bob Polk.
Survivors include a sister, Arline Polk Wall, Elgin, IL, and ten nieces and nephews, Cheryl Andrews, Jennifer Iturralde, Vicky Wall, Tom Wall, Janet Fine, Doug Polk, David Polk, Dr. Richard Polk, Mary Wheeler, and Nancy Baker.
Mr. Polk will lie in state after 10 am Thursday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6-8 pm.
He will lie in state from 10 am to 1 pm Friday at David Barnes Funeral Home, Sedan. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm Friday at Greenwood Cemetery, Sedan.
