Maureen Dawne O'Donovan, 66, of Topeka, died on Friday, December 4, 2015 at home surrounded by her family.
Maureen was born on June 9, 1949 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada the daughter of Harold Frank and Margaret (O'Donovan) Josling. She moved to Kansas City, Kansas in 1961 at age 12 with her family and became a Naturalized Citizen of the United States on October 8, 1974.
She received her high school diploma from Topeka High in 1968, and returned to school, majoring in Corrections to graduate Magna Cum Laude from Washburn University in 1988.
Maureen was married to G. Wayne Owensby on November 24, 1995 in Topeka, KS.
Maureen worked as a probation officer for Court Services in Shawnee County and later, in Douglas County, Kansas.
She is survived by her husband, G. Wayne Owensby; daughters Michelle Veronie and Kim Kuntz; brothers Craig Josling, Mike Josling and Donald Josling; and five grandchildren: Jesse, Alix, Garrett, Benjamin and Paige.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Wayne Josling.
Maureen will lie in state after 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 10 at the Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Ave in Topeka where the family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 11 at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery in Topeka.
