Marybelle Bass, 89, Topeka, died Wednesday, March 23, 2005 at Midland Hospice House. She was born in Atchison, KS the daughter of Floyd W. and Nancy Pitts Draper.
She graduated from Topeka High School. Mrs. Bass was a member of West Side Christian Church where she served as Secretary-Treasurer of the Sunday School Department, served as a Sunday School Teacher, C.W.F. member, Diaconate, Golden Oldies, Upper Room Class. She was a Den mother for the Boy Scouts and a member of the Artist's Association. She worked as a Secretary for Capper Publications and the Kansas Department of Transportation.
Marybelle married Raymond D. Bass Oct. 11, 1940 in Topeka. He died June 17, 1992.
She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Eric Bass who died June 23, 1999.
Survivors include two sons Douglas Bass and Dennis Bass and his wife Marti all of Topeka. a sister, Esther May Topeka; grandchildren, Jenny Christman and her husband Jay, Cara Bass, and one great grandson, Matthew Christman.
A funeral service will be at 12:30 p.m., Saturday, March 26, 2005 at West Side Christian Church. Interment will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
Mrs. Bass will lie in state after 3:00 p.m., Friday, March 25, 2005 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel where the family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
