Mary Stevenson

Mary E. Stevenson, 96, passed away Friday, July 27, 2007 at St. Francis Hospital.
She was born in Hutchinson, Ks on March 11 1911, the daughter of Dr. George B. Emery, Sr. and Violet Eva Kerr Emery.
She was employed for many years by Continental Forwarding Service of Washington, Missouri and later by Yonning Accounting firm in Topeka. She also worked for Governor and Mrs. Alf Landon.
Mary attended Emporia State Teachers College in Emporia. She was 60 years old when she graduated Magna Cum Laude from EastCentralCollege in Union, Missouri. She was a member of OtterbeinUnitedMethodistChurch.
She was preceded in death by her husband Edward H. Stevenson in 1966, and also by a daughter, Sonja Faye Stevenson in 1993.
Survivors include two sons, John and George Stevenson, a daughter Carol Ward, all of Topeka; eleven grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 11:00a.m. Wednesday, August 1, 2007 at the Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Burial will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery. Mrs. Stevenson will lie in state after 12:00 noon Tuesday at the funeral home. To leave a message for the family online, visit www.PenwellGabel.com.
