Mary Sackett

Mary Sackett, 83 of Goodland, formerly of Topeka, passed away on Thursday, January 19, 2012 at her home. She was born on April 23, 1928 in Topeka, Kansas to Salvador and Rose (Columbus) Calandro.
Mary was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church since 1951, and recently became a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Colby, KS. She was also a past member of the Red Hat Society.
On October 28, 1946, she married Allen A. Sackett, he survives. Other survivors include, their children, Jayne (Darrell) Melstrom of Goodland, KS and Michael (Rhonda)Sackett of Kansas City; her brother, Albert Calandro of Olathe; four grandchildren, Crystal (Mario) Hernandez, Dwight Melstrom, Andrew Sackett and Jesse Sackett and two great-granddaughters, Miranda and Erica Hernandez. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Josephine Adams and a grandson, Greg Melstrom.
A funeral ceremony will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 26 at St. John's Lutheran Church. Burial will follow in the Mount Hope Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 25 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel.
