Mary Estella Rogers, 80, of Topeka, died, Friday, 2-6-2004 at a Topeka nursing center.
She was born 10-13-1923 at Caldwell, OH the daughter of Everett and Ocie Cunningham Spear.
Mary was a veteran proudly serving as a courier in the U.S. Women's Army Corps during WWII.
She has resided in Topeka since 1964.
Mary worked as a nurses aide for many years. She had also taught school in Nebraska.
She married E.G. Rogers, Jr. January 27, 1968 in Topeka. He preceded her in death March 30, 1998. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Jessie Beman and a brother Marshall Spear. Survivors include:
one son, William T. McKee Seattle, WA
two daughters, Linda Hazelton Topeka, KS
Debra Rodriguez Fredericksburg, VA
one sister, Florence Breuklander Valentine, NE
one brother, Robert White Caldwell, OH
and 5 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 1:00pm Tuesday at the Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Burial will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service.
