Mary Patricia "Pat" Forbis was born April 4, 1922. She was the daughter of Edward Agustas and Essie Blanch (Logan) Fitzgerald. Her father Edward worked for the Santa Fe Railroad. She grew up in Topeka at 1216 Harrison, and graduated from Topeka High School in 1940. She attended business college for one year following which she took the Civil Service Exam and was offered a clerical position at J T Robinson Army Base Distribution Center in Little Rock, Arkansas in 1941.
Allen TC Forbis who had joined the Army in 1935, was a Supply Sergeant and her boss in the distribution center. After dating for a year they were married on September 5, 1942. When TC was sent to Iran, Pat went to live with his mother in Texas. While in Iran, he supervised shipping supplies to Russia for 18 months. He contracted an ear fungus which caused him to be medically discharged after ten years of service in 1945. Following discharge, they moved to Topeka where he was hired as the distribution supervisor for the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. Following retirement in 1975, Pat and TC moved to Olney, Tx. Pat was a 50 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star and Past Matron of Olney Chapter No. 321. Following TC's death in 1987, Pat moved back to Topeka in 1991 to be near her extended family, Chuck and Ruth Ann Parker and their children.
She is survived by her extended family, John (Chuck) and Ruth Ann Parker; their children, LaDawna Richmond (Steve), DeAun Soudek (Karl), Jared Parker (Dena); eight great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and step-grandson, Timothy D. Forbis (Peggy) of Cheyenne, WY, and his family.
Pat was preceded in death by her husband and parents.
She was cremated and her remains will be interred at Mount Hope Cemetery & Funeral Chapel, Topeka, KS. Per her request, a private family celebration of her life will be held in the Family Niche Chapel.
