Mary Moran

September 9, 1948 — July 11, 2019

Mary Frances Moran, 70, of Manhattan, Kansas, passed away Thursday, July 11, 2019 in Topeka, Kansas.

She was born September 9, 1948, in St. Louis, Missouri, the daughter of Clyde A. and Laura B. (Hawn) Roussin. She graduated from Flat River High School in 1966.

Over the years, what Mary loved the most was working hard in her home to care for and to serve her family; she was a faithful and loving wife and an amazing mother. She cherished time with her family and especially enjoyed recent family trips to Tucson, to the Pioneer Woman Mercantile and Lodge, and to Estes Park. Mary also loved to cook. She blessed neighbors and family alike with her great cooking and even earned awards for her chili and her angel food cake. Mary was a woman of faith in God; she regularly read the Bible and shared hope and inspiration with others.

Other hobbies of Mary's include crocheting blankets for others, collecting Trailways Bus memorabilia, and interacting with family and friends on Facebook. Family and friends described Mary as a sweet and kind person who was always thinking of others.

Mary married David Moran (formerly of Stewardson, Illinois) on December 8, 1971. He preceded her in death on January 4, 2017. Survivors include children, Douglas (Lori) Moran, Christy (David) Craft, and Kelly (Robert) Schottman; brother, Clyde Roussin, Jr.; sister, Laura Garner; sister-in-law, Patty Roussin; 11 grandchildren (to whom she was known as Mimi); and 2 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, John and Virginia Hawn; parents; husband; brother, John Roussin; sister-in-law, Maria Roussin; and brother-in-law, Bob Garner.

A short, casual Graveside Gathering will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 19, 2019 at the Stewardson Cemetery in Stewardson, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to the Children's Scoliosis Foundation, 10042 Wolf Road. Suite B #22 Grass Valley, CA 95945.
