Mary Lou Nold, 75, of Baldwin, formerly of Topeka, passed away on Friday, March 12, 2010 at her home with her family at her side.
She was born January 10, 1935 in Humboldt, Kansas the daughter of Gabe and Merle (Cline) Cruncleton. She was a 1952 graduate of Humboldt High School.
Mary Lou married Fritz Nold November 8, 1952 in Humboldt. She was a homemaker and devoted mother of her six children. She became employed as a secretary at Jay Shideler Junior High School and Washburn Rural Middle School. She retired after 20 years of service. She later worked at Alterra Clare Bridge Cottage of Topeka as the Activities Coordinator of the Alzheimer's Unit. She moved to Baldwin City where she has resided for the past two years. Mary Lou enjoyed entertaining people, playing piano and spending time with family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Fritz and her niece Debbie Nordt. She is survived by her children, Diane and her husband Knute Pittenger, Baldwin City, KS; Dan and his wife Trina Nold, Stilwell, KS; Tim Nold and Kimberley Cummings, Topeka; Gayle Nold, Topeka; Tom and his wife Kim Nold, Ozawkie, KS; Lori and her husband Louie Smith, Lawrence, KS; Lin and her husband Leo Irey, Baldwin City, KS; her grandchildren, Lyndsey and her husband Jeff Burkhart, Brett Pittenger, Jake Pittenger, Emi Nold and Matt Long, Joshua Nold, Katie Nold, Louie and his wife Lindsay Smith, Bambi and her husband Alex Martinez, Kasey Pittenger, Kaleigh Nold, Hanna Smith, Cody Nold, Cade Nold, Jenna Irey, Elli Nold, Jaden Irey, Jack Nold; and her great grandchildren, Chloe Nold Burkhart, Nico Nold Long, Annika Martinez, Carys Martinez, Carly Nold Long; and niece, Peggy Mudd.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, March 18, 2010 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Burial will follow at the Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Mary Lou will lie in state at the funeral home after 2:00 pm on Wednesday and visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. Memorial contributions may be given to the Alzheimer's Association, 4125 SW Gage Center Drive, Suite LL-15, Topeka, Kansas 66604.
