Mary Johnson

Mary Rose Johnson, 80 Topeka, died Saturday June 18, 2005 at her home. She was born December 25, 1924 in Stockton, California, the daughter of Horace S. and Verna L. Nelson Burtenshaw.
Mary graduated from Topeka High School. She worked for the State of Kansas as a secretary for over 20 years. She was a member of the Kansas Historical Society, Geological Society and Potwin Presbyterian Church.
She married Eugene L. Johnson, August 7, 1949 in Topeka, Kansas he died February 11, 1995.
She was also preceded in death by a son Donald Ray Johnson August 12, 1994.
Mary is survived by a son, Robert Eugene Johnson and his wife Susan, Topeka; a step-brother, Ray Burtenshaw, Logan UT; four step-grandchildren and three step-great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 21, 2005 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Interment will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
Mrs. Johnson will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 20, 2005 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel where the family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to Midland Hospice Care 200 S.W. Frazier Circle Topeka, Kansas 66606.
