Mary Jo Rose, 89, Topeka, passed away on Sunday, April 1, 2012.
Mary was born July 21, 1922 in Clay Center, the daughter of George E. and Goldie May Bennington. She graduated from Clay Center High School and went to Beauty school in Topeka. She worked as a Cosmetologist for 35 years.
Mary Jo loved playing cards and making greeting cards for her family and friends. She also liked going to Texas in the winter for a number of years.
Mary Jo was a member of the Arab Shrine Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary, the Moose Lodge Auxiliary, and a Life Member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary. Mary Jo was a Christian and belonged to Trinity Presbyterian Church.
Mary Jo was married to Glen Rose for 63 years. Survivors include sons, Mark Allen Rose, Meriden, Stevan Michael Rose, Perry; sisters, Maybelle Middleton, Arizona, Vera Gibbon, Tulsa, OK, Ruth Rose, California; grandchildren, Nathan (Rachael) Rose, Eudora, Melissa Rose, Holton; great grandchildren, Alexia and Lillian Rose, Gabriella and Keri Rose; nephews, Larry Church, Gary Bennington, Ed and Gail Gibbon, John Middleton, and John Rose; and nieces, Jan Bennington Loges, Lillian Middleton Arbenz, and Pam Bennington. She was preceded in death by brothers, Clifford Bennington, Charles Bennington, Ed Gibbon, and sisters, May E. Bennington, M.C., and Marsha Rose.
Mary Jo was cremated and no services are planned. Private family inurnment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel is assisting with arrangements.
