Mary Jane Seagraves, 83, Leawood, KS formerly of Topeka died Wednesday May 24, 2005 at Alterra Clare Bridge Assisted Living. She was born February 17, 1922 in Topeka, the daughter of George and Margaret Ratcliff Reklites.
Mrs. Seagraves graduated from Topeka High School in 1940. She attended Stricklers Business College. Mrs. Seagraves worked at the Washburn University Bookstore for over 20 years and Capper Publications. She was an active volunteer in various charitable and civic activities including the Topeka Rescue Mission. She was a former member of Potwin Presbyterian Church, where she was a longtime Sunday school teacher. Mrs. Seagraves later joined as a member of First Congregational Church. Mrs. Seagraves was a very loving and compassionate person to her family and friends.
She married Richard W. Seagraves March 7, 1942 in Topeka. He died June 9, 1999. She was also preceded in death by a sister Helen Reklites.
Survivors include a daughter, Janice K. Seagraves, Topeka, a son, Richard W. Seagraves, Jr. Leawood, KS; two sisters, Katherine Pavlick, Wichita, KS; Georgia Riggin, Topeka; and three grandchildren.
A funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, May, 27, 2005 at Mt. Hope Chapel. Interment will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
Mrs. Seagraves will lie in state from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel, Thursday, May 26, 2005.
