Mary Elizabeth Hallman Hurrel, 95, was born July 19, 1929, to Herbert W. and Cecile (Goodrum) Hallman in Pittsburg, Kansas
Mary was a graduate of Pittsburg High School and Baker University (majoring in Music Education), and was a member of Phi Mu Fraternity.
She married William P. Hurrel on June 13, 1953, in Pittsburg, Kansas. He preceded her in death on January 29, 1997. She was also preceded in death by her parents, and brothers; Herbert Jr. Hallman (in infancy), Robert Hallman and Howard Hallman, and a nephew; Gregg Hallman.
Mary gave private piano lessons and was accompanist for several performing groups. She was a member of Minerva Club, Chapter DV of PEO, Cyprus Ridge Women’s Golf Association, and the Westminster Presbyterian church where she was organist for 50 years. She enjoyed weekly lunches with the Thursday Club. Mary volunteered at Topeka Performing Arts Center, Kansas Historical Museum and the Kansas State Capitol.
She is survived by her sister-in-law; Carlee Hallman of Gaithersburg, Maryland, sister-in-law; Mary Hallman of Elmhurst, Illinois, nieces; Lynette Mehall, Sara Vettraino, Beth Johnson and Joy Hallman.
