Mary Ann Haugsness, 83, Topeka, passed away Saturday, March 4, 2017.
She was born August 25, 1933, in Summerfield, Kansas, the daughter of Charles and Jessie (Usher) Kussman. Mary graduated from St. Peter & Paul High School in 1951.
She was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church, St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Chanute.
Mary Ann worked at the Chanute High School Cafeteria. She enjoyed arts and crafts, collecting dolls and spending time with grandchildren and great grandchildren.
On June 14, 1952, she married John N. Haugsness in Ft. Monmouth, New Jersey. He preceded her in death on April 27, 2013. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Sean and Jeffry.
Survivors include a son, Craig (Diane Leupold); brothers, Alvin and Marvin Kussman; six grandchildren, Christopher, Sarah, Adrian, Seana, Monica and Sonya and great grandchildren, Zoey, Cadee, Lilly, Cannon and Brady.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 9 at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Cremation will follow the service and private inurnment will take place at a later date. Parish rosary will be prayed at 10:00 a.m., followed by visitation until service time. Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel is assisting the family.
