Mary F. Spillman Thomas Miller, 87 of Topeka died Thursday, October 2, 2014.
She was born in 1927 to Jacob N. and Flossie Spillman in rural Fredonia, KS. She married Walter E. Thomas in 1951 and lived in the Washington DC area until they divorced in 1973.
She moved to Topeka and married William H. Miller in 1976. Survivors include daughters, Leslee K. (Duane) Cantrell, Topeka, Gail Anne (Brian) Gunnerson, Overland Park; two sons, Mark E. Thomas and James S. Thomas, Topeka; step-daughter, Lisa I. (Kirk) Zirbel, Topeka; step-son Mike W. (Jan) Miller, Reno, NV; eight grandchildren, Chris Cantrell, Kaylee (Zach) Rider, Gabrielle and Garrett Gunnerson, Brooke and Ryan Baker, Michael (Chelsey) Miller, Chris (Yesenia) Miller; three great-grandchildren; sister, Marjorie N. Hassur, Tacoma, WA; and brother, Theo K. (Gwen) Spillman, Arkansas City, KS. She was preceded in death by her husband, William H. Miller.
Mary graduated from Fredonia High 1945; KU 1950, Kansas State 1977, also attended U. of VA and Washburn University.
She was an Airline Attendant for Braniff in Dallas, TX; Service Rep for C&P Telephone Co., Washington, DC; and a Special Ed teacher for USD-501 in Topeka from 1974 until 1994.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 10, 2014 at Topeka Bible Church.
