Eloise Tarter, 94, Topeka, passed away Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at Homestead Assisted Living.
Eloise was born December 14, 1921 in Topeka, the daughter of Richard and Nellie Elizabeth (Myers) Tarter. She graduated from Washburn High School.
She collected Shirley Temple memorabilia and dolls. She was the artist with Tarter Marble Boards and Crafts, a business she and her brother operated out of their home. She traveled extensively around the United States and enjoyed working in her yard.
She was employed as a cashier at Payne shoe store and later worked as a Clerk with the State of Kansas, Supreme Court. She assisted in obtaining data for the Brown v. Board of Education case.
Survivors include her brother, Richard "RC" Tarter, Topeka; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Emmlie.
Burial will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and a Memorial service will be held at a later date at Homestead Assisted Living.
